Dal tardo Quattrocento, di pari passo con l’espansione dell’Umanesimo, la conoscenza del greco si fa strada al di là delle Alpi, a partire dai Paesi Bassi. Presto gli studi ellenici fioriscono in tutta Europa, con nuove scuole e cattedre universitarie soprattutto in Francia, Germania e Svizzera.
With the expansion of Humanism in the late 15th century, knowledge of Greek made its way north of the Alps, initially in the Low Countries. Soon, Hellenic studies flourished throughout Europe, with new schools and lectureships established especially in France, Germany and Switzerland.
